Secrets to a good light show
To create a great atmosphere at your Karaoke show, there is no better way than using lighting effects. There's all kinds of different lighting effects on the market but the best ones are those that don't chop through lamps too quickly! For the novice there are lights that can be programmed, offering a sequence of effects. Often these lights are lightweight, easy to carry and cost effective to run. One light is often enough for a small venue, and you can always add another as your budget allows. To gain the best effects from your lighting you should add a smoke machine.

You have probably heard the old saying "there's no light without smoke".
It's true! Smoke enhances the laser light beams which often are not seen without smoke. The secrets to a good light show is choosing the lights to suit the situation. Think about what kind of effect you want, the size of the venue, and the atmosphere you are trying to create (fun, colourful, moody, etc). It's amazing what a few well placed lights can achieve, and there's lights to fit every budget.

Fast or slow!
If you play about 80% of fast music and 20% slow music, then 80% of your disco lights should be sound activated or fast moving and 20% should be slow moving!

Give your customers fun!
It's better to have ten $100 lights than a couple of expensive lights. It gives your customers a different lighting experience rather than the same old boring lights each night!

Think visuals!
Part of the joy of music is the inclusive feeling the audience experiences when good lighting creates the perfect atmosphere. Make it fun for your customers. Place your lights in a different place each gig. Be creative in the way you mix your lights. Twist an old theme and keep the visuals interesting.

What lights should I buy?
Rule of thumb more expensive lights should last longer than cheaper ones. However, the downside is the maintenance costs (lamps and repairs) are often more expensive too! It's important to look at lamp costs when purchasing lights. Make sure the lights you buy are also cost effective to run. At Laser Direct we look at three things when purchasing disco lights.

1. Well constructed and easy to repair.
2. Cost effective (lamps).
3. Good effect for the price!

At Laser Direct we don't stock every lighting effect available (as there as so many), but our team selects the best value for money. Check out the lights our team feel represent good value for money.
